My Volunteer Experience
My name is David and I’m a college student from Liverpool, England. As part of my degree I was given the opportunity to work for Asperger Works as a volunteer for a month, something I was extremely excited about.
I am about half way through my stay here in the US and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience thus far. It has been interesting to see the challenges facing organisations like Asperger Works, who are working tirelessly to provide a vital service with little funding, and it has been an honour to help out in any way possible.
AWorks need all of the volunteers they can get in order to continue their amazing work and I could not recommend the experience highly enough. Volunteers are given independence and the other members of the organisation are a pleasure to work with.
Outside of work I have experienced much of Haverhill and the surrounding area with the help of some of the board members, who have kindly given me tours and helped me settle in. I am very much looking forward to the rest of my stay.
